Position has full responsibility for the branch and for ensuring the highest quality member service, with authority to freely use independent judgment and make discretionary decisions regarding the branch.  Position assists MCs as needed with procedural, policy and member related concerns.  This position is overtime exempt.

Clark County Assistant Law Librarian

By statute, the Law Library provides a professional legal collection for judges, prosecutors, other lawyers and county and state officials.  The Law Library is managed by a Board of Trustees, according to RCW 27.24 and the Assistant Law Librarian is not a Clark County position.  The Assistant Law Librarian assists part-time in the operation of the Law Library and assists attorneys, judges and the public in use of the library.  The work schedule is 2 days per week for a total of 13 hours per week and the scheduled days are currently Tuesday and Wednesday (but the days are open to negotiation).  There is a possibility of a third day every week or every other week at a different location in the future.  The ability to work extra days as needed is a plus.  The position is eligible for paid time off on a prorated basis.

Position Description:

We are looking for college students with a background in education, social services psychology, psychology, arts or sociology who have experience working with children in schools, afterschool programs, and camps.

Must be available M-TH 2:00pm -6:00pm.

Responsibilities: Includes interacting with children, some with severe emotional and behavioral difficulties, and being responsible for:

  1. Supervising children in groups and individually.
  2. Working with children in a wide range of recreational and educational activities (i.e., homework help, tutoring, sports, table games, arts and crafts, computer room activities, etc.).
  3. Escorting children to various activity locations within the program.
  4. Picking up children from nearby schools, as needed.
  5. Helping children to cope with daily social interaction.
  6. Helping children to learn appropriate social behaviors.
  7. Mediating conflicts presented by children.
  8. Maintaining daily attendance.
  9. Dismissing children from the program, ensuring they leave with requested caregivers.
  10. Assisting in serving meals to the program participants.
  11. Assisting the program coordinator with office tasks related to running the program.

Student Leaders Position for NW Outdoor Science School

NW Outdoor Science School is looking for Student Leaders.

Student Leaders spend a week in cabins in the forest or at the beach teaching  6th graders about topics from dissolved oxygen and turbidity to observing microscopic organisms and squid dissection. They run nature-themed activities, lead plant ID hikes around the camp, and help foster a connection with the outdoors for both their students and themselves. Student Leaders develop both education and leadership skills and are mentored and given feedback throughout their week so that they can learn and improve.

Part-time Toddler Room Teacher

Part-time Toddler Room Teacher

Teacher for Toddler Room class (2- and 3-year-olds), with 9 children per day. This position’s work day will one to two days per week (preferably Tuesday, option for Monday and Tuesday). SWPCC generally follows the Portland Public Schools calendar. Work with 2-3 parent helpers, in coordination with the lead toddler teacher. Work with SWPCC’s four other teachers to help design and carry out Toddler Room activities. The job includes occasional meetings outside school hours, including attending three Board meetings during the academic year.
